NEW Sparkling Snippets Podcast with a Guest!!

     Today I launched my first official podcast for Sparkling Snippets. Initially when given the podcast assignment I tried to think of who a social media expert would truly be. I went back and forth searching for people I knew, but there's no better social media expert than a pageant girl. We constantly use platforms like Instagram and TikTok to promote our organizations, personal service initiatives, and how we use our titles for good. One of the first people that came to mind was one of my best friends, Mia Fritsch-Anderson. 

   Mia and I met back in 2022 when we were local titleholders in the Miss America Opportunity. We connected through Instagram while I was working to put together a social media video for my platform, Loving Ourselves and Verifying We're Enough. I had messaged Mia to see if she would be willing to help and from there, we built a beautiful friendship. Little did we know Mia would soon be crowned Miss Illinois' Teen and a week later I would be crowned Miss Ohio's Teen. Six short weeks later we met in person for the first time in Dallas, Texas for the Miss America's Teen competition. Over the course of our year, we grew quite close. I've visited Mia in Chicago, and she's visited me in Ohio, but we can't always see each other in person. We consistently use social media to keep in contact through sending messages or the funniest videos we can find. Without social media, Mia and I wouldn't have connected as early as we did or stayed as close. Social media can truly be a gift. 

    Now that you have an idea of who Mia Fritsch-Anderson is and how I was able to get her to appear on my podcast, let's talk about how she's a social media expert. While competing in the Miss America Opportunity Mia used her platform to promote asthma awareness, education, and advocacy across the state of Illinois. She started a specific Instagram page, "Choose to Breathe," to help get her message across to teens and youth. After taking a course from MIT about social media algorithms, Mia was able to amass over 33.9k followers on her page. With such an impact she's also been able to develop her platform into a 501c3 Non-Profit to expand her reach.

    Hello Cassandra, congratulations on launching your podcast! It’s so inspiring to see how you and her friendship had blossomed through social media and how it continues to grow today. I love how you highlighted the positive impact social media can have especially when it’s used for such important causes, liked when you talked about her asthma awareness initiative.

All Things Miss Teen Volunteer America Prep!

  In less than two weeks I’ll be heading to Jackson, Tennessee to compete for the job of Miss Teen Volunteer America. It’s hard to believe that my journey to the national stage started back in May of last year, but seeing the growth I’ve had is truly a blessing.     This weekend we officially wrapped “Hello, Dolly!” and I couldn’t be more grateful for the experience. I never imagined I would make my Ohio Northern musical debut in my freshman year, but I’m so thankful for the opportunity.
