Facebook...the Secret Tool in Marketing

Did you know that Facebook is the largest social networking site in the world? If asked, I would've expected TikTok or Instagram to take that title. In an era with countless social networking platforms to choose from it's easy to only focus on those you actively use, but it's important to broaden your reach across platforms.

Up until last year, I was exclusively an Instagram, Pinterest, and TikTok user. To me, Facebook was outdated and irrelevant. Going into college I initially created a Facebook page to find a roommate, but I've continued to learn more about it as I continue to use it. On Facebook, I've learned that I connect with a different audience than I do on Instagram. When I post on Instagram more of my peers tend to interact with my content, but on Facebook I tend to reach an older demographic that doesn't view my Instagram feeds. In learning this I've realized the importance of building your brand on multiple platforms. By focusing on only one social media page, companies are missing out on entire groups of potential customers. When the following is crafted and content is specific for each platform, brands can truly get the maximum reach and interactions out of every post.

Facebook specifically has tools that are exclusive to their site to help users tailor their experience to their needs. Users have the option to create a separate business page that is connected to their personal page. When creating this page, Facebook specifically asks for key focuses of the business so they can best fit their content into the algorithm. After creating a business page, users can also create a shop on Facebook to sell their products directly from posts. Through shops customers can instantly purchase as advertisements pique their interest. Even if a user isn't a business owner, they can create separate Facebook pages and groups for any organizations they might be involved with. One of my professors uses Facebook groups for every show he directs. Through this he can upload pictures, schedules, and videos from rehearsals, so every actor gets immediate access to them. While it forces me to check my Facebook more often, it's proven much easier to use than a Google Drive. Rather than sifting through uploads or multiple folders to find what I need, I can easily use the various tabs to find exactly what I'm looking for.

While I was never an avid Facebook user and I'm still not the best with it, I've learned the importance of Facebook in the world of marketing. There are countless features that can work for brands and organizations of all types. The possibilities with Facebook exclusive features are endless and ready for you to use.
