Tis' the Season to Polar Bear Up!

It feels like this break has been a lifetime long. Between getting my wisdom teeth removed and constantly working on nationals prep for the spring, I really packed as much into those short weeks as possible. Now it's January and we're already back to school. While some of my classes are a little nerve wracking...musicianship I'm talking about you...I'm excited to see what this semester has in store. I really missed seeing everyone on campus, so despite the cold I couldn't wait to get the day started!

Going into this semester I have a vision filled with goals, so I figured it was time for a little "carpe diem" if you will. One of my biggest goals is creating a routine that gives me plenty of time to complete work while also keeping my sleep schedule intact. While 6 a.m. is an early wakeup call, I know it'll pay off in the long run if I keep at it. Another goal outside of school is ensuring I'm taking time to prep for nationals so I can truly leave it all on the stage. Between talent rehearsals, mock interviews, working out and practicing the walking patterns, I'm making sure that when it comes down to the details, I've already ironed them out. My last goal is to work ahead on all my courses. I'm beyond excited to be making my musical debut in "Hello, Dolly" this semester, but I know those rehearsals will take time and energy. If I can work ahead on assignments and keep up early on, it will only allow that period to run smoother. Here's to an incredible second semester! Go bears!

  1. I also got my wisdom teeth removed over break, and it was truly an experience for sure. I also bought my tickets for Hello, Dolly, and I am just counting down the days until you guys open! Hoping that your plan for this semester runs smoothly for you.

  2. Like you, I also want to find a manageable routine this semester that balances my academics and fitness and still have time for myself and extracurricular events. However, I will not be waking up at 6 a.m. like you.

    1. I don't blame you at all on the 6 am. It's definitely not fun, but maybe sometime I'll start to enjoy it!

  3. I agree with not enjoying the cold whether that this winter has brought. It makes walking to classes feel so much longer than what they truly are. Besides that I Too was excited to get back this semester to be able to see all of my friends and fellow peers as i had taken last semester off it truly is nice to get back into the groove.

  4. It definitely sounds like you have a busy semester ahead of you, but it sounds like you have created manageable goals for yourself to help balance your time. I, too, struggle with not overworking myself and making sure I have enough time to rest and sleep. Hopefully, we can both find a good routine this semester!

  5. Cass! I am in a similar boat as you so I totally understand where you are coming from when you talked about creating a routine that allowed you to get everything done in a timely manner. I am also trying to find a way to balance fitness in addition to homework, classes, practice and rehearsals and I've made a plan to get up at 6 am also to try and be able to balance it all. Hopefully it works out for both of us and it seems like you know how to be successful already. I am so proud of you and I can't wait to see you shine in Hello Dolly. Glad to work with you and I hope everything works out the way you want it to!

  6. Hi Cass! I love how much of a positive mind set you've created for yourself! I might have to take a few notes from you. I completely understand your discipline in making sure you stay on top of school work while rehearsals are going on, I live and die by my planner. You seem like you've set good, achieveable goals for yourself to help get through the semester and I hope it goes well for you. So excited to see you in Hello, Dolly!
